Good job posting this chart = however, I guess we now have to wait until at least next year for McLellan to land the boys in teal a Stanley Cup victory... because while plenty of coaches have won with their first team, none of them on this list won in their first year as head coach - a supremely important distinction, if I may sound so pretentious.

Not to sound like a pompous bastard (which would be misleading because I am), but I took the years after Jean Perron's win as my sample set. He was the last coach to win in his first year, which is the reason why none of the coaches on the list fit the "first year" bill.
