Helluva game tonight. Sticking with the ideals of my gameday post, I'm keeping this short.
Congrats to Dan Boyle for getting his first goal with the Sharks, an overtime game winner nonetheless. The celebration with Joe Thornton after the goal was just a little awkward touching and sweet. For the sake of the franchise, vote No on Prop 8.
Antero Niittymaki's save at the end of the third was as good as it gets. Shades of Nabokov last postseason against the Stars, but once again the left handed larceny could not prohibit an overtime loss. Zinger! Or is that like, taking a dig at our own guys? I'm awfully hard right now. On our guys. I'm being awfully hard on our guys right now.
Ah geez, go Sharks.

Win!Amazing game!
Yeah, uh, I gotta say, I was as excited as anyone when Boyle put it in for the win - and lord knows it was an exciting game to watch, but I was not impressed with the play for most of the game. (1) Clusterf**k passing - this seems to have been left over from last season - skate right towards your teammate and then pass the puck to him, thereby eliminating any space for him to do anything with the puck and allowing two defenders to be right on top of him. When they finally spread the ice upon entering the zone, what happened? Guch scored a fantastic goal. (2) I'm willing to admit that I'm really happy that our Captain didn't get traded last year, but Marleau can't seem to hold onto the puck whenever someone passed it to him. What's going on there? (3) Ehrhoff is doing really well offensively, but he still leaves himself out of position defensively too often. Briere's go-ahead 4-3 goal was Ehrhoff's fault. He abaondoned the point which allowed the break that ended with Briere's goal. I have a feeling that "Ehrhoff" will remain a swear word in my house this season (but I'd love to be wrong). Finally, and most importantly, you should never have to play overtime when you outshoot the other team 44-15. Just shows one other thing that hasn't changed since last season: trouble with "finish" (sorry, more of a soccer term, but its appropriate here to describe the lack of ability to put it in the net). Notwithstanding Pavelski's sweeeeeet roofer, it appears to me that the boys still need to spend a couple of days practicing puck placement on their shots. Just my humble two cents.
didnt mind the shot count being 44-15 but everything else is a 'for sure. what the fuck was going on?' statement from me
just really came to add i was super stoked boyle put the winner in
